We are pleased to announce that this year’s winner of the AJA Research Seminar Paper Prize is Neil Dawes (pictured left). Neil’s paper is entitled “Cover Song Detection: Developing the Chroma Based Approaches to Detection for Large Scale Application with Greater Accuracy”. In non-technical terms, the paper discusses different approaches for automated detection of cover versions of songs. It is a great piece of work and a thoroughly deserving winner. The cash prize was presented to Neil at the recent Tonmeister end-of-year event by Dr Philip Coleman, Lecturer in Audio at the University of Surrey.
Adrian James Acoustics has sponsored the prize for the last five years, which is awarded for the best paper written by a student on an audio engineering subject. AJA has close connections with the University of Surrey Tonmeister course, not least because two of our consultants are graduates.
We are delighted to be supporting such high-quality work and our congratulations go to Neil for his outstanding research.
