Data Privacy Policy

Introduction

Adrian James Acoustics Ltd is a fully independent acoustic design consultancy. We collect and store the minimum amount of personal data required to carry out our daily business.  We do not sell, rent or trade email addresses or indeed any other data to third parties for marketing purposes.

Maintenance and disposal of data

For most of our work it is not necessary for us to collect or store personal data. Some types of work such as expert witness work and SEND Tribunals, however, do require us to receive personal information.  If personal data is sent to us unnecessarily or in error we delete or destroy this securely.

We are normally required to keep information about enquiries, work in progress and work that we have completed.  For compliance with insurance and contractual requirements we normally keep essential data and correspondence for up to six years after the end of the project, although in some cases for legal and contractual purposes we are required to keep data for up to twelve years.  Our company policy is to keep all of data, including personal data, safe using secure storage methods.  We maintain this data in a safe and confidential manner and when it is no longer required we dispose of any personal data by shredding any papers and deleting any personal data held electronically.

Marketing

Any marketing emails that we send are related solely to our own activities.  It is the nature of our business that the vast majority of our clients and colleagues are businesses rather than individuals.  In May 2018 the ICO has confirmed in its online document 20180307 “At-a-glance guide to the Marketing Rules” that for business to business communication, businesses may email other corporate bodies without having received previous consent from the recipient.  (This differs from emails to individual consumers, from whom specific consent for marketing emails must have been received.)  We will always, however, offer the recipient (whether a business or an individual employee) the option to opt out of receiving further marketing emails.

The ICO At a glance guide gives further details.
