King’s College School in Wimbledon has just opened its magnificent new music building, with acoustic and audio-visual systems design by AJA. The three-storey building houses music classrooms, practice rooms, rehearsal rooms of all sizes and a recording suite. Pride of place goes to the extraordinary 200-seat concert hall, for which we designed a system of acoustically diffusing panels within the timber finishes of the sloping walls and roof. We are greatly looking forward to the formal commissioning of what promises to be one of the best music schools in the UK. Meanwhile, there are some very impressive photos on the School’s website www.kcs.org.uk/senior-school/news/new-music-school – can anyone spot the concealed projector screen?
