Adrian James graduated from Imperial College,
London in 1984 with an Honours degree in Physics. He then spent two years in
contract research into fluid flow dynamics and active noise control. Since 1986
he has been a full-time acoustics consultant working with established
independent consultancies including Travers Morgan Planning, Sound Research
Laboratories, Building Design Partnership and Sandy Brown Associates. In this
time he was responsible for acoustic aspects of over 150 projects including:

/ Sheppard Robson)
- The Royal Festival Hall, London - acoustic

In 1994 Adrian James established his own
consultancy specialising in performance buildings. He has worked with many
leading architects including Terry Farrell & Co, Sir Norman Foster &
Partners, CZWG, Jeremy Dixon and the Building Design Partnership, and with
theatre consultants Carr & Angier, Theatre Projects, Glantre, Michael
Holden Associates and Techplan. He has published papers in English and French
on auditorium acoustics, was a founder member of the Société
Française d'Acoustique and was Chairman of the Association of Noise
Consultants' working group on noise measurements in buildings.
